The SEWISC Board of Directors is happy to welcome John Lunz, who joined the Board in January and will serve a three-year term. John is a very busy man! He volunteers for The Park People where he is responsible for the Weed-Out program and also works with The Wild Ones, attaining speakers for monthly meetings and their annual conference. John’s direct work with invasive species began in the 1990’s weeding in a local park and expanding to regular activity at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center where he works two mornings a week as a volunteer land steward. He often substitutes on Saturday mornings for staff members when needed, leading high-school and college-age students as well as other volunteers. John also partners with his lovely wife, Martha to control invasive species and restore native plant communities in local county parks and elsewhere in their community such as a 3.5 acre high quality ephemeral wetland recently purchased by the Milwaukee Area Land Conservancy.
The Board also extends tremendous gratitude to newly retired members Laura Giese, Steve McCarthy and Theresa Morgan for their hard work and commitment to our mission, and for the innovative ideas they shared throughout their terms of service on the Board of Directors.
