Celebrate our 2018 accomplishments, hear about our exciting plans for 2019 and learn how you can become involved!

Love them or hate them, lawns are a fact of American life. Despite their reputation, lawns don’t have to be resource-intensive to look good.  This year's guest speakers will share information on low-maintenance grasses as well as native sedges and wildflowers that can be used to create lawns and lawn-like spaces that are inspired by natural plant communities in the Midwest.

Dan Carter, Principal-Specialist Biologist at the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, will help you separate between daily life and nature by thinking about your lawn differently, and learn how to create lawns and lawn-like spaces in your landscape that promote biodiversity.

Doug Soldat, Professor and turfgrass extension specialist in the Department of Soil Science at the UW-Madison, will share research-based tips for acheiving low-maintenance lawns that look great while providing areas for play and activities.

We will also present our 10th Annual Sweat Equity Award during the Symposium, which honors outstanding Southeastern Wisconsin citizens and organizations for their significant contributions to prevent, control or eradicate invasive species that harm our region’s lands, waters, and wetlands.

The symposium is free and open to the public ************ Delicious local refreshments will be served.
